Brian Easton is due to visit Turf Moor on Monday for his medical ahead of his transfer from Hamilton. The Scottish Under 21 internationals Agent has spoken on the transfer to BBC Sport .

Easton’s agent, Willie McKay, says the Scot will prove a big hit in England.

“He is a strong, fast, 6ft 2in left-back and there’s not many of them about,” McKay told BBC Scotland.

“He will probably travel down to Burnley on Monday and I would expect him to travel with Burnley to Los Angeles on Thursday.”

Easton will provide competition to existing left back Christian Kalvenes and back up Stephen Jordan.

Burnley’s Squad for the Premiership

Last season in gaining promotion to the premiership we were able to do it using at times a squad of only 18 players.

As things stand our current squad includes two goalkeepers in Brian Jensen and Diego Penny. I see no reason why we shouldn’t have a young third choice goalkeeper a goalkeeper in his teens so if the unthinkable does happen and Brian “the beast” Jensen does pick up an injury we have sufficient back up available.

In Defense we have switched between two left backs in Kalvenes and Jordan. I do think both are good players but the increased amount of pace in the premiership could see them both exposed so a young left back like Brian Easton would be an excellent addition to the squad.

At Right back our weakest position we have used Mike Duff , Rhys Williams and Graham Alexander. Alexander’s days at right back are over following his superb transformation into a defensive midfielder. His displays in our promotion shielding the back 4 have made him Burnleys answer to Makelele. The new right back Tyrone Mears looks set to take this position. It would still be nice to see another right back as back up .

Central Defence see Skipper Steven Caldwell and Clarke Carlise remain first choice. David Edgar the signing from Newcastle will be pushing for a starting position and will keep these two on there toes. Mike Duff is also a great backup for these positions.

Graham Alexanders defensive midfield position is also in my opinion requiring a back up. Dutch man Remco Van der Schaaf is yet to prove he is a consistent back up in the Championship let along the Premier league. Chris Mccann will shine in the Premiership this year along with Chris Eagles, Wade Elliott and Robbie Blake.

The One position I would like to see fillied would be a out and out left winger. Andrew Driver would be a perfect signing in this department but it remain to be seen whether hearts will allow him to leave for anything less than 5 million.

Up front Steven Fletcher and Martin Paterson are first choice but I would like to see Sheffield Wednesdays Marcus Tudgay join the clarets and with his added pace and finishing attributes will pose a lethal threat in combination with Paterson and Fletcher.

So to review the players I would like to see join Burnley before the premiership season would be  -

1 – Young keeper as third choice and to play in the reserves

1 – Young back up right back

1 – Back up left back Easton fits that bill with a already reported £300k bid

1 – Back up defensive midfielder ( Hopefully Van der Schaaf )

1- Left Winger – ( Andrew Driver)

1 – Striker Marcus Tudgay

That’s six more new signings before the Stoke game but I am sure it is possible if the clarets splash the cash.

Burnley Playing For Fitness Against Bradford

Valley Parade was the scene and if anywhere in the country can act as inspiration for the clarets to retain there Premiership status then this is the arena. A half completed stadium one stand wouldn’t look out of place in non league then the other on a par with Elland road for size.

It was a tale of two Burnley sides the one in the first half and the one in the second. It was nice to see new signing Tyrone Mears, Steven Fletcher and David Edgar in the Second half. It was also nice to see Dutch Midfielder Remco Van Der Schaaf given a run out in the second half and he almost set up a goal for young Jay Rodriguez.

All in all it was a typical pre season encounter nothing to play for bar fitness and the result reflected that a 2- 1 win to Bradford. Burnley opened the scoring with a placement from veteran Graham Alexander. A Bright point was the linking up between new striker Steven Fletcher and Martin Paterson they linked up well and this will bode will for the Premiership.

Hamilton left back Brian Easton is due to get his wishes granted by Hamilton after that have reportedly agreed on a £600k deal with Burnley for the Scotland Under 21 left back.

Easton express his desire to join the clarets last week explaining how the Premier league was just too big a carrot to turn down.

“It’s every player’s dream to play at the top level, and it doesn’t get any bigger than the [Premier League],” Easton explained to The Daily Record.

Easton will not find life easy at Turf Moor he will have to compete with the SPL’s former No1 Left back Christian Kalvenes and former Manchester City Man Stephen Jordan who improved last season putting in some excellent performance in the clarets Capital punishment (Carling Cup) Run to the semi finals.

Alex MacDonald Joins Falkirk

Burnley’s young Scottish Under 19 striker Alex MacDonald has joined Falkirk on loan until the January Transfer Window. A move reminiscentof Jay Rodriguez who joined Sterling Albion in Coyles First Season in Charge.

Rodriguez Returned with much needed first team experience under his belt which is exactly what young Alex Macdonald needs if he is to progress in his football career. It wouldn’t be fair to him being behind the likes of experienced strikers such as new signing Steven Fetcher, Steve Thompson, Martin Paterson and Rodriguez.

Fans will remember when Alex Macdonald first came on the scene in the Burnley first team squad . Owen Coyle was so impressed and could see such potential he worked alongside him personally and even stared upfront in the reserves with Macdonald helping to mould the young strikers talents.

Burnley have captured three players already this season in Tyrone Mears, Edgar and Steven Fletcher from hibs for a club record fee. The transfer rumours are continuing to circulate around Turf Moor and Owen Coyle has refused to rule out further purchases.

Operations Director Brendan Flood has already confirmed they would like to bring in up to 7 players but that may contain some loan signings. The players being linked are Hearts Andrew Driver, Mccarthy and Easton from Hamilton.

Plus Sheffield Wednesdays want away striker Marcus Tudgay who has rejected a new 3 year deal with the owls. It has been stated by Tudgays agent that he would like to talk to the premiership new boys.

It is all shaping up well for the clarets and they will be playing there first pre season fixture against Bradford at Valley Parade this Saturday the 10th July.
