Sunderland v Burnley

Its Turf Moors First game for one day short of a month following Chelsea and Liverpool away. Plus the England world cup qualifying game against Croatia. Burnley have no new injuries but last seasons skipper Stephen Caldwell is still not fully fit. I can see Chris Eagles getting a start in this game and also David Nugent.

It will be hard to drop Martin Paterson who has been superb over the last few games but one worrying factor is his inability to convert chances so far this season. Steve Bruce has been keeping Kenwyne Jones on the bench and Burnley will be hoping that remains the case as for me he is there most feared striker. But Darren Bent is also on fire so it will take a good performance from Bikey and Carlise to keep the Turf Moor clean sheet record in tact.

Burnley will go into this with no fear but this is a potential banana skin and it will take nothing less than 100% for us to get anything from this game.

David Nugent is worth a punt for first goal he would love to prove the doubters wrong.

How Betfair works ?

Betfair is different to normal betting under odds at the bookies. People bet against each other and betfair hold the funds until the bet is completed. Potential bets you can think about in relation to football are three teams I can see getting relegated from the Premiership this season.

Hull , Portsmouth and Wigan I cannot see any improvement from Hull this season and with Michael Turner there best defender leaving for Sunderland for what is in this inflated transfer market a reasonable 6 million pounds I cannot see Hull improving on last season.

Portsmouth are having to cope with a massive change in playing staff . It will take time for those players to Gel and in my opinion losing Defoe, Crouch and Glen Johnson would effect any club. Wigan for me have made a error in appointing Martinez as there manager he is very inexperienced and this will show over the coming season at the end of the day he didn’t get Swansea in the Play offs last season.

Liverpool vs Burnley bets

Burnley go into this game following the international break leaving Owen Coyle one of those problems a manager wants in his squad. Such was the form of his back up players, chris eagles, fernando guerrero, kevin mcdonald and new signing David Nugent in the Save our stanley fixture placed on Tuesday to save Accrington from the Tax Bill facing them.

I cannot see Coyle making any drastic changes he is a loyal manager to a team that is performing and with wins against man utd and everton already I really cannot see Coyle dropping any of his players.

Amr Zaki Burnley Link

Burnley have been linked with former Wigan Athletic loan player Amr Zaki. A proven premier league goalscorer and before his falling out with Steve Bruce over his Egypt International duties was looking likely to join one of the top clubs.

If Burnley pull this one off and if Owen Coyle can make sure he turns up to training on time Burnley could have unearthed a real gem. A player that could help establish the side as a mid table force in my opinion in the Premier league.

Champions League Your Haveing a Laugh

Manchester United strolled into Turf Moor with there Rolex watches, Ferrari’s parked in the car park and a stock of supporters labelled the glory hunters from other teams supporters across the country. It was little old Burnley’s first home top flight game for 33 years and you could tell.

The atmosphere at Turf Moor was electric a upgraded old stadium with the echoes of past glories reverberating as a reminder of what is possible in Football. Owen coyles men gave nothing less than every last ounce of effort they ran till they dropped as they do every week. But unlike the vast majority of other teams that will face Manchester United this season from the lower reaches of the Premier League Burnley had one thing in there favour a unshakable belief and unwilliness to sit down and give in to what in most cases would look a daunting task.

Burnley have respect for larger named clubs and players but they don’t see it as a forgone conclusion that we will be beaten by these teams. Unlike Sam Allardyce our manager Owen Coyle will not look to fixtures with the big four as bonus points he will look for the three points on every occasions . It is this mindset that will keep the clarets in the Premier League.

Andre Bikey Signs For Burnley

August 18th, 2009 by admin

Burnley have completed the signing of Reading Centre back Andre Bikey for an undisclosed fee. The fee is believed to be around the £2.8 million mark following reports made earlier last week. Bikey will be available to make his Burnley debut against non other than Manchester United in Burnleys first ever Premiership home game.

Bikey will probably partner Clarke Carlise for the fixture but Carlise could make way for David Edgar. All in all I am very happy with this signing ok Bikeys temperament has been questioned and there is not a Burnley fan that wont worry about his potential for losing it in the big game situation.

But he is Strong, Powerfull and full of pace the attributes Burnley have been severly lacking in defense. Hopefully this will help in reducing Burnleys goals against and help pick up those precious Premiership Points required for safety.

Burnley v’s Manchester united Review

August 16th, 2009 by admin

Following the defeat by Stoke City Burnley now face one of the toughest tasks in the Premiership Manchester United. The clarets will take solace with the knowledge that Manchester United are not the best starters to a season and it usually takes a few matches before United find there stride.

Burnley who had to field left back Stephen Jordan in central defence will be hoping to have Captain Stephen Caldwell, David Edgar and even Readings Andre Bikey could be at the Turf after his rumoured £2.8 million Transfer to Turf Moor.

If you were going to consider making a bet against Manchester United beating Burnley then this is one of the very few fixtures in which it is worth betting against United. Odds for the United win will be so poor we would reccomend a punt considering this is Turf Moors first top flight game since 1977.

Betfair £50 Premiership Free Bet

August 14th, 2009 by admin

The 09/10 Premiership Season all set for kick off and to celebrate Betfair the online betting exchange are offering a £50 Free bet as opposed to the normal £25 offer. Why not put a bet on the overall winners of the title. Will Manchester United take the title and break Liverpools Record ?

Will Chelsea take the lead with Carlo Ancheloti installed as the new manager at Stamford bridge. My tip for the title this year is going to be Manchester city. Then there is the Top scorers will anyone reach the magical 30 goal a season target.

I can see Didier Drogba challenging this season along with Nicolas Anelka. A good bet may be Michael Owen the old predator hasn’t performed well at Newcastle but as part of a winning team he has as good a chance as anyone.

Then there is the Relegation dog fight involving the promoted championship clubs plus the teams in there 2nd season in the top flight. I am going to say Portsmouth, Stoke and Birmingham will all struggle this season. My personal tip is Burnley for mid table.

Burnley to Avoid Relegation Odds

The football pundits have made there mind up little old Burnley Will drop like a stone according to most. But I tell you this Owen Coyles men will go about there business quietly. A team already established with a winning mentality will not be easy to beat.

Coyles team will run until they drop and with the likes of Chris Eagles, Wade Elliott, Robbie Blake, Martin Paterson and Steven Fletcher they have a good chance of scoring the goals to keep them in the premiership for one more season.

I am going to go out on a limb and make what could be called a ridiculous statement but I feel Burnley will finish comfortbale in there first season .They are a match already for the likes of Blackburn Rovers, Bolton, Wigan to name but a few.

Coyles stock will rise and he will establish himself as the No 1 up and coming Scottish manager.

Why not place a bet at Betfair and lay against Burnley gettting relegated this season I certainly will be .
